Ok I read the article and it is extremely disconcerting on so many levels. With so many holes in the article to leaving you saying, say what? Before you commission any work to be done you should know where the resources are going to come from ,hint hint, in the article does not come out and say it all the same coming out of our pockets to pay the auditing company no more than $125,000 or there of? Well I am a accountant and I have ran multi-million dollar businesses and just like anything else resources can get away from you if your not at the helm sorta speak, but so true. I am proposing the creation of an Osage Nation member Committee for a Responsible Osage Nation Budget that is made up of the rank and file membership, apart and not directly related to the Osage Nation government. This is a government watch group of concerned and responsible Osages who will get involved to follow all Congressional meetings that take place with regard to appropriations and make comments on what is happening daily and throughout the Tzi-zho Session, including any further budgetary adjustments throughout the year. The Nation is running out of money and relying more and more on the operational capital of the gaming operation asking for additional millions and millions to support the burgeoning bureaucracy that benefits few of us who live outside of Osage County. As I stated in my campaign, this government has been created to serve the Osage people first and the government second. Since the beginning, the new government has been self-serving and therefore upside down. Now there is a push to build a new campus building for the members of the Osage Nation Congress when the Bank Building has been purchased and is perfectly serviceable for their needs especially since there has already been money appropriated for renovation for this purpose. This kind of government self-serving spending must not continue. The next generation has the right to make choices too about what they want done in the future and not all of these important decisions involving new building and infrastructure should be made with our money by these retirees who have recently been elected to office or will be incumbents in the next election. We already own a great deal of property and have purchased improved real estate that the Osage people know nothing about and should know because they have a right to know what their government is doing and what assets it owns overall.

ONCA 18-62, An Act to authorize and appropriate eight hundred eighty thousand dollars ($880,000) to Osage Nation Energy Services, LLC; and to establish an alternate effective date. (Stabler).
ONES, LLC has been a business enterprise development entity since 2012 that has been properly funded since that time and yet has no actual business on the ground in all this time. All of the money appropriated for business development has been spent for items other than what it has been appropriated for in the past. The most recent attempt to gain funding by appropriation was for $1.1 million and that amount been reduced to $880,000 due to the efforts of those who have been keeping a close watch on what has been going on with these LLCs that never return a dime to the Osage people in a dividend or other funding back to the Osage Nation government. Part of the work of the Committee for a Responsible Osage Nation Budget is to put a stop to this kind of government waste and to act as a watchdog over our appropriations to make certain that our Congress is doing the right thing and not continuing to throw our money down the proverbial black hole that appears to exist in Osage County with regard to the Osage people’s money. The running total is approximately $20 million either spent or lost to date. In this case, if an appropriation is made then it should be made for no more than $150,000 of seed money and earmarked specifically in the bill for the actual creation of new business entities that will be in business to make money for both the Nation and the Osage people. Such controls on this money are appropriate in view of the past history of this particular LLC and the others that are, as I write, being wound down and terminated. Please contact your members of Congress at https://www.osagenation-nsn.gov/who-we-are/congress-legislative-branch/contact to let them know that you support this reduction in funding and with a legal control measure to be placed in the bill with appropriate consequences of termination and criminal penalties as well if the funding is spent on anything other than what it is earmarked to be spent for in future. Part of the function of a government watchdog organization is to identify those who talk big, spend a lot of government money, do nothing and have nothing to show for it between funding periods besides a plethora of debts and financial obligations, huge payroll with benefits and other unacceptable liabilities.

Don't understand why the Executive branch has spent so much money on a school that has no accreditation. Shouldn't that have been done first, before hiring teachers? ONCA 18-56 is a grant from the division of Mineral and Energy Development. ONCA 18-46 is a Tribal funding bill that does not seem to be associated with the Budget for the $1 million drawdown.

(Whitehorn) is for things like space cost, indirect cost and recording equipment and the like. It's charged to them by the Nation and then reimbursed back in this bill.
Of particular significance is the failure to pass of ONCR 18-24. I would suggest that you read this resolution in its entirety and its narrative because from what I was able to understand today, money ($250,000) that was appropriated for one purpose was taken and used to pay for property on a lease/purchase basis but the deed to the property is sitting in the safe of the lawyer who handled the transaction and has not been surrendered to the Osage Nation to date even though the property has been purchased purportedly by the Nation. The Congress never knew anything about this purchase at the time and didn't give either an approval by resolution or a blessing of any kind. It was discovered after the fact. The Nation MUST have the deed to the property it owns and the Osage people MUST know who the name of the actual purchaser is on the actual deed sitting in the lawyers office today.

ONCA 18-51- An Act to authorize and appropriate three hundred seventy thousand four hundred eighty three dollars ($370,483) for the merit payments in accordance with the Workforce Pay for Performance Act; and to establish an alternate effective date. (Whitehorn) (This bill should have gone to General Order Day 2 where Amendments May Be Proposed in the event that any member of Congress wants to amend it on the floor of the Congress. This is another funding bill that could be cut because these bonuses are supposed to be earned by the employees and this total amount is therefore arbitrary and not set in stone. Reducing this figure by half would insure that these bonuses are actually earned and not handed out liberally. If more funding is necessary, it can be asked for at a later time in supplemental legislation.) To put this in perspective, $40,000 of Tribal funding is the actual amount that is being distributed for down payments to homeowners in Osage County alone. At $5,000 per family, this services directly only eight (8) families in total. If the totals were in reverse, $370,483 would service 74 families per year. Legislation as to the merit bill bonuses can be changed to reflect a smaller number and percentage. In addition, legislation can be changed to open up the down payment member benefit to all Osages no matter where they live.

This is my synopsis of the Health Committee review of the Health Care Plan Bill discussion with the Chief and Jason Zaun: Moving on to ONCA 18-41, the Health Benefit Plan Fund. Today the Congress passed the budget for Grayhorse community Center with a running total of over $4 million dollars that they're now calling sacred. The Arbor maybe but not the Grayhorse Community Center when they just built a brand new Community Center for Fairfax that's 10 minutes away. They are not above saying anything they want to get what they want! This latest appropriation is for $1.1 million is for less than 450 people living in the entire Fairfax area including Grayhorse. Now they are trying to chip away at the education funding bill because they are so grossly overspent. Finally, had to send the budgets back to the Executive Branch and the Treasurer for "meaningful adjustments."
I herd the Executive is kicking Congress out of their digs and they have to build another new buildong right away. This is so they can get Osage artists in the bank building to suck off of Dee Rummonds Merk traffic across the street. OF SPECIAL NOTE: ONCA 18-41, An Act to authorize and appropriate ten million dollars ($10,000,000) to the Health Benefit Plan Fund from fiscal year 2019 tribal revenue; and to establish an alternate effective date. (Edwards), was reduced by $250,000 to $9,750,000 in the Health and Social Services Committee today. This reduction, approved by the Chief, took place despite $616,000 being returned back this year to the Healthcare Plan fund.

Sorry Osage people, the Osage Nation Congress today, with five exceptions, voted to take the appropriation for your Heathcare plan needs down $250,000 which includes Medicare Medigap and Part "D" Prescriptions for over 700 Osage Seniors. Oh yes, the moral... don't ever vote for a three part democratic form of government that is supposed to serve the people that can't be handled or managed in a proper way and equitable manner by the elected officials of it. OFPR (Office of Fiscal Performance and Review) and it is required by law to have it. YES IT IS! So get about putting it back in order. Nothing done about the items on the report and if nothing done then you are OBLIGATED to have a COMMITTEE HEARING to figure out who isn't doing the right thing and have them held accountable. Stop throwing up your hands in the air expecting someone else to do your job because you all want to be nice guys and gals! Put your noses to the grindstone and do the job that's expected of you! Just today, I had a call from another constituent and the verbatim comment was, "They are such a bunch of weenies." Truer words have never been said. The Congress has all this power and flatly refuses to use it! And yes, SHAME ON YOU! C. Stabler thinks its not needed anymore? WHAT? Something new? Car seats in and car seats out (what the what?) and now don't need the OPPR any more? It's her own "personal vision." OMG! The LLCs are also within the purview of the OFPR and always have been or doesn't she know this? WOW! She can't be that ignorant can she? Mason concurs with that idea? Give me a break! I can't believe what I'm hearing here. Is he that ignorant too? C. Bighorse wants to rebirth it and restaff it and he agrees too! So, as a running total so far, we have spending slated for... #1 the new Casino Hotel Tower to be built in the same general location as the brand new Tulsa Casino. #2 is the new building for the Clinic. #3 is the new building for the Congress. #4 is the new office building to be built across the street from the new Tulsa Casino. #5 is the new Community Building for Grayhorse that is 10 minutes away from… the new Community building we built in Fairfax. Plus we have the delivery of the Fairfax Wellness Center due sometime in December. Don't forget about the new $1.1 milllion Veteran's War Memorial. Just this year we have also seen the completion and delivery of the Hominy Wellness Center and… the Hominy Village Square.
So let’s add up the money 180,000,000 for a few building to be built or refurbished when we hav buildings that will be sufficient to use and then we have the Bluestem Ranch that is in the red that thus far is costing the Osage to run over $70,000. A month..$75,000,000 plus another $45,000,000 to purchase..then you have the LLC’S operating in the Red..to millions gone not accounted for no financial invoices to support the loss..isn’t that one of the reasons Red Eagle was impeached for? How does this work some get a pass and his was for $70,000.. That he could not account for who he said he paid his IT guy yet they could not find a invoice to justify the money gone, same difference. What is going on here? Do the math...how is it we get $45,000,000 a year from the Casinos but we have so much Debt..and yet we can cut healthcare for those that need it? How about we cut this over inflated entitled Government to size, let’s start there. Let’s vite on it?
Maria Whitehorn is trying to resurrect the Osage, LLC and put it back up on its feet. It's just horrible and scandalous that they would even think of continuing to float and fund that loser. She'll pay the price come the next election with every dollar they throw away on the Osage, LLC today and and in the future. I can't believe she would be this foolish after all this time and all the money spent or lost. The only thing I am left to believe is that money is moving around after it has been appropriated and going where it shouldn't be going. Nothing in the law is stopping this from happening that's any different from what it's been in the past and no future cap is in place and established for these LLCs to know they can't come back and ask for any more money. It's an outrage. The elected officials have used and are still using the Osage people's money like it was a personal bank and making the worst investments possible. I'm hearing a whole lot of grumbling against the Chief now and how dishonest he is if he goes forward with the Osage LLC from what he promised in campaign season. The people are done with this stupidity and would rather make money by leaving it in savings than losing it outright or have it go for salaries and overhead to people who couldn't make it fly if their lives depended on it; past, present and future.
Tried to tell everyone not to put SB back in office. It elect his minions who do his bidding. Stabler is a good example. Chief wanted the ONES LLC funded during the spring session. He vetoed all appropriations for LLCs, not because the money is thrown away, no because the ONES didn't get funded. I tried warning people if you vote for SB lackeys the money spent will be at his total discretion. Who sponsored the bill to fund ONES? Stabler. Notice Chief sets in on the meetings now telling them where to cut money? He's got years to spend and spend, and fools gave him the Congress people to do it.

What's also important about this is the fact that when the Osage, LLC had its offices in Tulsa, it was out of Osage County where the Osage Nation had no legal ability to do anything about what they were doing or so the story went at the time. If this is the plan for the Osage Nation Casinos too, will the Casinos then be in a position to do what they want, when they want with no ability of the Osage Nation to do anything about it from a legal standpoint as well? Wow! In a Congressional Committee meeting earlier on in the week, a committee recommendation was reversed on the confirmation of the Osage Nation Treasurer, due to a letter that was read out, who may have ethical or legal conflicts which may call into question the effectiveness of his nomination as Osage Nation Treasurer. Today the majority of the Congress refused by vote to confirm the current Treasurer. This took grit and stamina and I congratulate Congresspersons Potts, Pratt, Stabler, Tillman, Whitehorn, Goodfox and Lemon for doing the right thing.
SB will just find another lackey to do his bidding as Treasurer. Move money here, move money there. That Treasurer was paid handsomely for doing Geoff's work.

We don't know how many employees this covers but we think it's for the Osage Nation government employees at 530 plus or minus.
Multiply that figure by 52 weeks.
Of that number of weeks, paid time off for the employees in one form or another now adds up to to a possible maximum of 10 1/2 weeks off or 2 1/2 months off in total. This includes 2 1/2 additional Holidays with paid time off for them and they aren't even in Osage Nation law! This is just because the Chief sent out an Executive Memorandum on the 30th of this month to all these employees.
So 20% of the time, the employees have the possibility to be off work and get paid salary and benefits! In addition, of the real total of projected revenue without the Chief tapping the gaming operation for more money into the millions, and without the permanent fund and the rest of what's in the kitchen sink, that number is roughly $42-45 million a year all in. The total for the yearly payroll is in the neighborhood of $23,500,000 or now roughly 50-55% of the entire projected revenue figure on a yearly basis. Did you ever think that the money paid out to roughly 530 people for the new Osage Nation government would ever amount to this? In other words, the great majority of the wealth generated by the Osage Nation government is now in the hands of so very few at 530 employees plus or minus?
We are on a need to know basis with this government because of the amounts they are spending on salaries, yearly increases, bonuses (merit is guaranteed by law) and benefits that increase on a yearly basis by $350,000 to $450,000 plus. (Edwards) Without having to go into permanent debt at some point soon, how many of these can we continue to afford especially since they have HR reviews every couple of years that ups the base pay scale of the salaries across the board if Tribal funding is being used to pay those salaries?
This says nothing about the pay increases they get for having acquired higher education. It maxes out at $15,000 a year for those with Doctorates. When they began with this one several years back, I knew they were throwing money at one another as much and as fast as they can get away with on a yearly basis.
The government is poorly run by these elected officials and a number of the employees. It costs too much and it’s eating our direct member benefits alive on a yearly basis with these highfalutin salaries and for these so called merit bonuses at a price tag of $375,000 to 450,000 guaranteed by law each year and other bonuses on top of bonuses. It’s become under Standing Bear the best get-rich-quick scheme around. Six layers of management before you get to the Director who is paid starting out at $60,000 plus benefits. The whole thing has grown to be a money eating monster and it’s got to go. The legality of what they do in their business dealings with the outside world is way more than questionable and leaves everything we have at risk. They’re totally frightening and seem to think that they live in another world where the real world has nothing to do with them. That makes them not only costly but dangerous.

Before you commission any work to be done you should know where the resources are going to come from ,hint hint, in the article does not come out and say it all the same coming out of our pockets to pay the auditing company no more than $125,000 or there of? Not sure if stronger legislation is needed, for example, you cannot hold office for three years after holding office.
Business management is really needed it’s fundamental but experience pays and right now I can see the hand that is playing. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist. You can’t build a house on lies.
Integrity matters goes hand in with Sovereignty. I want to see is not happening in fact it’s not hard to see if you just open your eyes this is not what was promised, in fact the complete opposite has happened, fact.
There is no blame when it comes to the hands that change. No accountability, no transparency, lack of record keeping, it’s not a accident.
I’ll be pragmatic, nothing in life is a accident.
How much does the Osage want to lose? Before they wake up from their nooze and do something and start holding those accountable because before to long, there will be a vote of no confidence and restore this De Facto Government to the M.C.

So when I say we are entitled to the resources because we are even though we are Independent of the Nation.written as so. I hold prior administrations and M.C responsible as well. The Nation was born from us, not the other way around.
So here we are and I know this was not the intent and it’s surely not the Government our constituents fellow Brother and sister Osage’s hoped for either.
Well you have to remember that only a small percentage of the vote is coming in, look at the picture. Government like to suppress right , even our Newspaper is guilty, ah they can always say we are only printing what we ar told. see how ignorant, but people will believe that. No investigative reporting, no follow up,..only people want to here the matter is being addressed. Then they come back with appropriations to justify the matter with no real pros or cons how it’s supposed to work for the Osage to the benefit of. This is not what was supposed to happen. I happen to think that the Osage is waiting for that one person they know that will get this off the ground in no time that that night and shining Chief is there. And I happen to think the Osage know this and are wondering how we got here and they want to right the wrong.
Just my opinion of course. But I don’t think I am to far from the truth or the doesn’t fall far from the tree.
Change has to come through some tough legislation or buckle up someone is going to come in riding.

DeleteI am proposing the creation of an Osage Nation member Committee for a Responsible Osage Nation Budget that is made up of the rank and file membership, apart and not directly related to the Osage Nation government. This is a government watch group of concerned and responsible Osages who will get involved to follow all Congressional meetings that take place with regard to appropriations and make comments on what is happening daily and throughout the Tzi-zho Session, including any further budgetary adjustments throughout the year. The Nation is running out of money and relying more and more on the operational capital of the gaming operation asking for additional millions and millions to support the burgeoning bureaucracy that benefits few of us who live outside of Osage County. As I stated in my campaign, this government has been created to serve the Osage people first and the government second. Since the beginning, the new government has been self-serving and therefore upside down. Now there is a push to build a new campus building for the members of the Osage Nation Congress when the Bank Building has been purchased and is perfectly serviceable for their needs especially since there has already been money appropriated for renovation for this purpose. This kind of government self-serving spending must not continue. The next generation has the right to make choices too about what they want done in the future and not all of these important decisions involving new building and infrastructure should be made with our money by these retirees who have recently been elected to office or will be incumbents in the next election. We already own a great deal of property and have purchased improved real estate that the Osage people know nothing about and should know because they have a right to know what their government is doing and what assets it owns overall.

ONES, LLC has been a business enterprise development entity since 2012 that has been properly funded since that time and yet has no actual business on the ground in all this time. All of the money appropriated for business development has been spent for items other than what it has been appropriated for in the past. The most recent attempt to gain funding by appropriation was for $1.1 million and that amount been reduced to $880,000 due to the efforts of those who have been keeping a close watch on what has been going on with these LLCs that never return a dime to the Osage people in a dividend or other funding back to the Osage Nation government. Part of the work of the Committee for a Responsible Osage Nation Budget is to put a stop to this kind of government waste and to act as a watchdog over our appropriations to make certain that our Congress is doing the right thing and not continuing to throw our money down the proverbial black hole that appears to exist in Osage County with regard to the Osage people’s money. The running total is approximately $20 million either spent or lost to date. In this case, if an appropriation is made then it should be made for no more than $150,000 of seed money and earmarked specifically in the bill for the actual creation of new business entities that will be in business to make money for both the Nation and the Osage people. Such controls on this money are appropriate in view of the past history of this particular LLC and the others that are, as I write, being wound down and terminated. Please contact your members of Congress at https://www.osagenation-nsn.gov/who-we-are/congress-legislative-branch/contact to let them know that you support this reduction in funding and with a legal control measure to be placed in the bill with appropriate consequences of termination and criminal penalties as well if the funding is spent on anything other than what it is earmarked to be spent for in future. Part of the function of a government watchdog organization is to identify those who talk big, spend a lot of government money, do nothing and have nothing to show for it between funding periods besides a plethora of debts and financial obligations, huge payroll with benefits and other unacceptable liabilities.

DeleteOf particular significance is the failure to pass of ONCR 18-24. I would suggest that you read this resolution in its entirety and its narrative because from what I was able to understand today, money ($250,000) that was appropriated for one purpose was taken and used to pay for property on a lease/purchase basis but the deed to the property is sitting in the safe of the lawyer who handled the transaction and has not been surrendered to the Osage Nation to date even though the property has been purchased purportedly by the Nation. The Congress never knew anything about this purchase at the time and didn't give either an approval by resolution or a blessing of any kind. It was discovered after the fact. The Nation MUST have the deed to the property it owns and the Osage people MUST know who the name of the actual purchaser is on the actual deed sitting in the lawyers office today.

ReplyDeleteONCA 18-51- An Act to authorize and appropriate three hundred seventy thousand four hundred eighty three dollars ($370,483) for the merit payments in accordance with the Workforce Pay for Performance Act; and to establish an alternate effective date. (Whitehorn)
(This bill should have gone to General Order Day 2 where Amendments May Be Proposed in the event that any member of Congress wants to amend it on the floor of the Congress. This is another funding bill that could be cut because these bonuses are supposed to be earned by the employees and this total amount is therefore arbitrary and not set in stone. Reducing this figure by half would insure that these bonuses are actually earned and not handed out liberally. If more funding is necessary, it can be asked for at a later time in supplemental legislation.) To put this in perspective, $40,000 of Tribal funding is the actual amount that is being distributed for down payments to homeowners in Osage County alone. At $5,000 per family, this services directly only eight (8) families in total. If the totals were in reverse, $370,483 would service 74 families per year. Legislation as to the merit bill bonuses can be changed to reflect a smaller number and percentage. In addition, legislation can be changed to open up the down payment member benefit to all Osages no matter where they live.

This is my synopsis of the Health Committee review of the Health Care Plan Bill discussion with the Chief and Jason Zaun:
DeleteMoving on to ONCA 18-41, the Health Benefit Plan Fund. Need to find a co-sponsor to review it. C. Lemon asks, "Does it have to be that much?" Yes, it certainly does because it benefits Osages no matter where they live! Chief is speaking about program growth. Jason Zaun speaking now to review the budget. Running the numbers for the various programs under this budget. For the Card and for the Seniors. Fourth year since it was implemented. $616,000 came back to the plan and didn't roll over this year. Who cares what age they are? Are you wanting to reduce funds for that age group, C. Goodfox? Roll over is important for having funding available for big ticket health items like dental and eye wear. Yes this fund will continue to grow to service all of the registered members of the Osage Nation. And yes you can afford it and if you get cheap with all the funding thrown around with the mind bending spending that we see here in Osage County, it's stunning that you would have the temerity to ask. Chief is looking at savings in this area? Chief, check your Office of the Chiefs Budget. Reduce it by half and then come back to the table with these remarks. Discuss this... FOR ALL OF US not just Seniors and Children. C. Goodfox is examining this option! "The Osage people first and the Osage Nation government second." This is for the Osage people and you have no right to tough benefits for us until you reduce your government spending by an equal amount. I am SHOCKED that you would even look here to make cuts with the wild spending that goes on in these mindbogglingly bloated government budgets. Get into all your IDC funding that probably shouldn't even be there and cut back there. Millions unspent falling yearly into the Retained Revenue Fund after the first of the year! First year that the increase has gone back into the fund for $616,000 that didn't roll over and now they are complaining that it needs to be reduced which accounts for the increase in the bill? 8,000 Osages who haven't enrolled and the Chief is using a scare tactic on adding these numbers to justify that they can't afford it. Says he has projections. I'd like him to publish those trend line projections. This sounds like a manipulation to me to justify spending the money in Osage County. Today the Congress passed the budget for Grayhorse community Center with a running total of over $4 million dollars that they're now calling sacred. The Arbor maybe but not the Grayhorse Community Center when they just built a brand new Community Center for Fairfax that's 10 minutes away. They are not above saying anything they want to get what they want! This latest appropriation is for $1.1 million is for less than 450 people living in the entire Fairfax area including Grayhorse. Now they are trying to chip away at the education funding bill because they are so grossly overspent. Finally, had to send the budgets back to the Executive Branch and the Treasurer for "meaningful adjustments."

Meanwhile -- (with an approximate) $27,000,000 later either spent or lost -- back at the "Ranch" sitting there with $1.1 million dollars of the Osage people's money still in the bank, the Ranch Board is asking for a current appropriation of an additional $1.1 million! Sorry Osage people, the Osage Nation Congress today, with five exceptions, voted to take the appropriation for your Heathcare plan needs down $250,000 which includes Medicare Medigap and Part "D" Prescriptions for over 700 Osage Seniors. Oh yes, the moral... don't ever vote for a three part democratic form of government that is supposed to serve the people that can't be handled or managed in a proper way and equitable manner by the elected officials of it. I am forced to conclude; the predominate number of elected officials have only one question in mind, "Where's the beef?"

It's just horrible and scandalous that they would even think of continuing to float and fund that loser. She'll pay the price come the next election with every dollar they throw away on the Osage, LLC today and and in the future. I can't believe she would be this foolish after all this time and all the money spent or lost. The only thing I am left to believe is that money is moving around after it has been appropriated and going where it shouldn't be going. Nothing in the law is stopping this from happening that's any different from what it's been in the past and no future cap is in place and established for these LLCs to know they can't come back and ask for any more money. It's an outrage. The elected officials have used and are still using the Osage people's money like it was a personal bank and making the worst investments possible. I'm hearing a whole lot of grumbling against the Chief now and how dishonest he is if he goes forward with the Osage LLC from what he promised in campaign season. The people are done with this stupidity and would rather make money by leaving it in savings than losing it outright or have it go for salaries and overhead to people who couldn't make it fly if their lives depended on it; past, present and future.

What's also important about this is the fact that when the Osage, LLC had its offices in Tulsa, it was out of Osage County where the Osage Nation had no legal ability to do anything about what they were doing or so the story went at the time. In a Congressional Committee meeting earlier on in the week, a committee recommendation was reversed on the confirmation of the Osage Nation Treasurer, due to a letter that was read out, who may have ethical or legal conflicts which may call into question the effectiveness of his nomination as Osage Nation Treasurer. Today the majority of the Congress refused by vote to confirm the current Treasurer. This took grit and stamina and I congratulate Congresspersons Potts, Pratt, Stabler, Tillman, Whitehorn, Goodfox and Lemon for doing the right thing.

Perhaps this is the first time I've agreed with Jim Gray in history. I've never been all that on Scorsese since "Taxi Driver" and his use of grotesque traumatizing violence to get to the head of the "film director" class back in the mid 1970's. It was a cheap shot film and nearly got a sitting President killed. We should be afraid of what he will do with the Osage Murders if he turns on his penchant for being the mean latrine. ReplyDeleteWe don't know how many employees this covers but we think it's for the Osage Nation government employees at 530 plus or minus.
Multiply that figure by 52 weeks.
Of that number of weeks, paid time off for the employees in one form or another now adds up to to a possible maximum of 10 1/2 weeks off or 2 1/2 months off in total. This includes 2 1/2 additional Holidays with paid time off for them and they aren't even in Osage Nation law! This is just because the Chief sent out an Executive Memorandum on the 30th of this month to all these employees.
So 20% of the time, the employees have the possibility to be off work and get paid salary and benefits! In addition, of the real total of projected revenue without the Chief tapping the gaming operation for more money into the millions, and without the permanent fund and the rest of what's in the kitchen sink, that number is roughly $42-45 million a year all in. The total for the yearly payroll is in the neighborhood of $23,500,000 or now roughly 50-55% of the entire projected revenue figure on a yearly basis. Did you ever think that the money paid out to roughly 530 people for the new Osage Nation government would ever amount to this? In other words, the great majority of the wealth generated by the Osage Nation government is now in the hands of so very few at 530 employees plus or minus?
We are on a need to know basis with this government because of the amounts they are spending on salaries, yearly increases, bonuses (merit is guaranteed by law) and benefits that increase on a yearly basis by $350,000 to $450,000 plus. (Edwards) Without having to go into permanent debt at some point soon, how many of these can we continue to afford especially since they have HR reviews every couple of years that ups the base pay scale of the salaries across the board if Tribal funding is being used to pay those salaries?
This says nothing about the pay increases they get for having acquired higher education. It maxes out at $15,000 a year for those with Doctorates. When they began with this one several years back, I knew they were throwing money at one another as much and as fast as they can get away with on a yearly basis.
The government is poorly run by these elected officials and a number of the employees. It costs too much and it’s eating our direct member benefits alive on a yearly basis with these highfalutin salaries and for these so called merit bonuses at a price tag of $375,000 to 450,000 guaranteed by law each year and other bonuses on top of bonuses. It’s become under Standing Bear the best get-rich-quick scheme around. Six layers of management before you get to the Director who is paid starting out at $60,000 plus benefits. The whole thing has grown to be a money eating monster and it’s got to go. The legality of what they do in their business dealings with the outside world is way more than questionable and leaves everything we have at risk. They’re totally frightening and seem to think that they live in another world where the real world has nothing to do with them. That makes them not only costly but dangerous.
