  1. TRUE GENEROSITY>>> Interestingly enough, the Kaw Tribe that is just now on the verge of getting casino gaming is reported to be giving the Elders (65+ years old) a Christmas Bonus of $200.00 a year and another $200 for Christmas in July! This is a total of $400.00 a year that they don't have to sign up for or do a thing in order to receive other than to be an Elder member of the Kaw Tribe and alive. CONTRAST this with what the Osage Elders receive from the Osage Nation yearly for doing nothing whatsoever in order to receive such funding. Do the terms zip, nada, or zero mean anything to you?

    1. That's why there should be a per cap to spread the wealth around to everyone instead of just the usual suspects.

    2. What this says, loud and clear, is the Kaw not only have respect for their elders, they show it

  3. Compare these two articles about the Osage LLC --
Third ON Congress passes $2.6 million capital contribution for Osage LLC: http://osagenews.org/article/third-congress-passes-26-million-capital-contribution-osage-llc
Osage LLC reports $5.8 million in losses for 2012: http://osagenews.org/article/osage-llc-reports-58-million-losses-2012
The first article was about Congressional spending for the Osage LLC in December of 2012 for FY2013 and the second article was published in May of 2013. The Osage LLC has been around since 2008. For five years it's been losing money so what was Shannon Edwards talking about? How many assessments does she need to figure out that this business is a big time loser?

    2. That one was worth copying and pasting into the old browser. So the guy in the snazzy gold suit that looks like he's thrown a few back is the one making a quarter of a million a year on our nickel? No wonder he's smiling.

  4. I wonder how much this is going to cost? "UPDATE: In a unanimous vote the Osage News Editorial Board voted to instruct its attorney Stephen Lee...to Principal Chief John Red Eagle's legal counsel to pay the Osage News' legal fees and court costs for its suit... the rest is located at https://www.facebook.com/OsageNews?ref=stream&hc_location=stream I don't buy the comment that Shannon Shaw Duty didn't know on the 26th of June either. That was in the middle of the week on Wednesday and the Hominy dances were held from June 13 to the 16th this year and were over by June 26th.

  5. Why is the Congress spending $8.5 million for the gaming commission now when the appropriations for 2014 don't begin until the Regular Session in September? What's the rush? The bill is ONCA 13-57 >> http://www.osagetribe.com/congress/uploads/Legislation/Bills/2013/57/ONCA13-57.ORIGINAL.pdf

  6. FYI: According to CNN: "Detroit has filed for bankruptcy, becoming the nation's largest public sector bankruptcy. The move could slash pension benefits to city workers and retirees, and leave investors holding the city's debt with only pennies on the dollar." Breaking News from Foxnews: Detroit becomes largest city in U.S. history to file for bankruptcy, meaning city assets could be liquidated to satisfy demands for payment. 1. Hydroponic cultivation of fish and vegetables? What about a dollarponic cultivation of Osages who are members and live outside of Osage County? Otherwise known as a Per Cap. Take care of your own, Osage Congress, before you get involved in arbitrary spending measures for optional items exactly like this one.

  13. TOTALLY DISGUSTED OSAGESeptember 3, 2013 at 11:24 AM

An additional $3.5 million added to the budgets for this year? FROM WHERE IS THIS MONEY GOING TO COME? Have these people lost control of the budgeting process? $106K added to the AG's Budget? FOR WHAT! Stop asking all these questions and CUT THIS SPENDING. Sending the budgets back for $2,013,485 in cuts to come from the ON Treasurer? YOU BET! $1.5 MILLION FOR THE MERIT SYSTEM WHEN THESE PEOPLE DON'T EVEN ANSWER THE PHONE OR RETURN A PHONE CALL OR E-MAIL IN A TIMELY AND PROFESSIONAL MANNER? WHEN YOU HAVE TO KEEP SENDING REQUESTS FOR INFORMATION TIME AFTER TIME AND FINALLY GET THE INFORMATION FROM ANOTHER DEPARTMENT EVEN WHEN YOU SEND IN REQUEST FOR INFORMATON FORMS IN ORDER TO GET THE INFORMATION? 3% MERIT BONUSES ACROSS THE BOARD FOR DOING WHAT? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING? BY WHAT STANDARDS ARE THESE PEOPLE BEING JUDGED IN ORDER TO JUSTIFY SUCH BONUSES? THAT THEY ARE ALIVE? OTHER GOVERNMENTS AND COMPANIES HIRE COMPANIES TO SHOP ON THE JOB PERFORMANCE BY THE EMPLOYEES IN PERSON AND OVER THE PHONE. I SUGGEST THAT THIS SORT OF PROGRAM BE FUNDED AND IMPLEMENTED BY THE ON CONGRESS IMMEDIATELY IF YOU WANT TO CONTINUE TO ADD SUCH HIDEOUSLY ENORMOUS INCREASES TO THESE SICKENINGLY BLOATED EXECUTIVE BRANCH BUDGETS AND ESPECIALLY FOR MERIT BONUSES. GOT THAT?

    2. What concerns me in addition to what Disgusted Osage Posted put a per-cap into legislation if Gov. Fallan can force the OSAGE to give up the 50% OF THE PROCEEDS ON CIGS. Not only that STOP THIS GOV FROM GETTING ANY BIGGER. Stop the spending and lets do right by our own people for lands sake. And its true I called the language dept. They never called back....In addition ,the Racetrack as well. Are we to continue with the other Tribes to support 2 million in funds when in fact contingent, the horse race track with our slot machines placed at track and now no live racing and they still want the funds, yet live racing is done and over and so should the funds. This was contingent there was live racing? Congress you need to be in the know you just can't say here is funding spend it however you like just don't go over budget.....It sounds like we need an outside service to monitor all that is going on....no kidding a side......Not funny.

    3. Understood and agreed. They can't get it together to follow the money or anything else so they need an outside service to find out what is going on with the money of the Osage people.

  14. RED ALERT--IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: In view of the plethora of inexplicable choices that the elected officials of the Osage Nation have made during their tenure for the last seven years, the most recent of which was reported by Congressman Raymond Redcorn in his Update #170: "For employees, the full $1.4 ($1.5) million salary adjustment increase also made the cut, along with the full 3% Merit funding attached to salaries.", the Osage Blog is announcing its NEW Election Initiative that we are calling the Osage Surge for Candidates to come forward from outside of Osage County and the State of Oklahoma to run in the upcoming Osage Nation elections; "The Osage Surge" for short. We need boots on the ground, Osage members, to turn around the policies and spending practices of the Osage Nation government to one that is sensible and reasonable that includes ALL Osages no matter were they reside which was promised to us if we were to support a new Osage Constitutional government. We need to reestablish a proper balance from the top down and the bottom up! Please join this initiative and if you can, run for office in the upcoming Osage Nation elections in 2014. Since they won't, each one of us need to stand up and take responsibility and BE RESPONSIBLE for what our new government does in the future. Now IS the time for all good Osages to come to the aid of their new Constitutional government.

  15. RED ALERT--VOTER INFORMATION--To help you cast your vote in the upcoming elections, take a look at the Legislation Vote Records for the members of the Osage Nation Congress: http://www.osagetribe.com/congress/info_sub_page.aspx?subpage_id=183 and the Congressional Attendance Records: http://www.osagetribe.com/congress/info_sub_page.aspx?subpage_id=184 that have NOT been updated for the Third Osage Nation Congress. Someone has clearly dropped the ball on NOT getting out the Third Congress Session Attendance records. When will this information become available to the voters Speaker Raymond Red Corn? 16. Who is chiefly responsible in the ON Congress for the Osage, LLC., and the loss of the people's money reported to be between $11-$12 MILLION?. This is a 65%-70% loss of the funds invested -- a total of $17.5 MILLION -- including the money paid for the Tulsa Airpark ($4.9 MILLION). In an e-mail sent to Congressman Raymond Redcorn on May 27, 2009, a constituent wrote, "As you know, the times are so bad from an economic standpoint that I too have questioned whether the timing is right to launch a full scale business development effort via the Osage LLC....I also have some questions as to the new CEO (Carol Leese) and his last employment with the PBDC. See http://www.potawatomibdc.com/images/upload/PBDC_2007AnnualReport-000.pdf He and Lance Morgan were not there for long as is represented at http://www.potawatomibdc.com/our_people.php What I would like to know is why the Harvard business model that was seeded there did not take root." DID Redcorn ever dig deep and get any answers for the constituent who wrote to him? Did he ever research this information and the lead that was provided to him that could have stopped this thing because those were questions that should have been asked by those directly responsible to the members of the Osage Nation and as a result, because they went unanswered, they proved to be a precursor of such massive losses for the Osage Nation. Now, if you take a look at all of the Legislation associated with the Osage, LLC that has been passed into law, you will find the answer to my first question: ONCA 09-35, ONCA 08-30, ONCA 09-77, ONCA 11-61, ONCA 11-63, ONCA 12-29, ONCA 12-112, ONCR 08-09, ONCR 08-10, ONCR 09-03, ONCR 10-33. Do your own homework at http://www.osagetribe.com/congress/info_sub_page.aspx?subpage_id=189 The results are very interesting...
